Welcome to El Lago, a 512-acre community located 32 miles south-east of downtown Houston, inside Harris County. It is home to 3,075 residents and 42 employers.
Locally known as the “Home of the Astronauts”, El Lago, TX is located near the cities of Taylor Lake Village and Seabrook. It is a community comprised of mostly 4-bedroom single family homes, priced from $150,000 to $265,000. The name “El Lago” originated from “the Lake”, due to the city being bound on two sides by Taylor Lake and Clear Lake.
The City of El Lago, a magnificent residential community strategically located on the northwest side of Seabrook, Texas, just 3.5 miles from the Kemah Boardwalk. El Lago was established in 1961 and is comprised of three deed-restricted neighborhoods, El Lago, El Lago Estates and Taylorcrest; which collectively contain roughly 975 single family residences. El Lago has seen new home construction through 2014, when the last single family residence was completed.

El Lago offers housing to suite a variety of needs; older homes start at $150,000, while newer homes go up to several million dollars depending on the size of the lot and the proximity to Taylor Lake. The average lot sizes are close to a quarter of an acre and the homes average 2,200 square feet. Scattered throughout the community are estate style homes with much larger lot sizes and footprints.
El Lago is a small, incorporated city in the heart of the Clear Lake/Kemah market area and is overseen by an elected Mayor and Council. El Lago is located just north of Clear Lake, west of Highway 146 in Harris County. It is bound on the south by East Nasa Parkway, the west by Taylor Lake and the east by Repsdorph Road.
The City of El Lago is in the Clear Creek Independent School District and is serviced by the following schools; Ed White Elementary, Seabrook Intermediate and Clear Falls High School.
El Lago includes a spectacular lake with boat ramp for fishing, recreation and relaxation, four parks, a large swimming pool, three clay tennis courts, a racquet club, a fitness center, a splash park, baseball fields, a basketball court (under the generously sized pavilion), playgrounds and covered picnic areas.

Families, whether native to Clear Lake or new to the city, are excited to discover that the City of El Lago was home to over 50 US astronauts (including Neil Armstrong, Edward Higgins White II and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, to name a few) and there are several that still call El Lago their home.
Pets who reside in the City of El Lago are required to be registered and wear a City license tag. The annual renewals are due each January and require a $5.00 fee; registration is done at City Hall. Please bring proof of rabies vaccination at time of registration.
Residential trash collection requires the use of disposable plastic or paper bags and is not to exceed a total weight of 50 pounds. The trash is collected on Wednesday and Saturday every week (except for holidays) and must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m.

Recyclables are picked up on Wednesday morning (except for holidays) and must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. Acceptable items include aluminum, metals, soup/veggie cans, beverage cans, aluminum foil products and wrapping, plastics – excluding #6, cardboard, cereal boxes, shipping boxes, food boxes, newspapers, magazines, phone books, clear or translucent plastic milk, and soda bottles, catalogs, telephone books, printer and copier paper, and mail. Please do not include Styrofoam, plastic grocery bags, food stained products or wax lined paper items such as milk cartons.
Yard and brush trimmings are collected on Wednesday of each week. Brush and tree limbs must be cut to a length not to exceed 60 inches, tied in bundles not to exceed 18 inches in diameter and no more than 50 pounds in weight. Landscape waste and lawn clippings may be accumulated and placed in plastic bags for collection and recycling.
All trash, recyclables, yard and brush trimmings must be stored out of public view except on collection days. The following holidays are observed by the City of El Lago; New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
